Sustainability & CSR at Plastico Corp:
Pioneering Responsible Innovation
At Plastico Corp, sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) are integral to our identity as a global leader in the irrigation and plastics industry. Since our founding in 1977, we have prioritized ethical practices, environmental stewardship, and community engagement. Today, we are proud to announce that our Taiwan and Mainland China facilities have achieved ECOVADIS Silver Certification and SEDEX SMETA Approval, respectively—recognitions that underscore our commitment to transparency, sustainability, and social accountability.
Environmental Stewardship
Our operations are guided by a circular economy mindset. Through packaging redesign and smart material selection, we have reduced plastic waste by 18% across our supply chain since 2020. Energy-efficient upgrades to manufacturing equipment at our Taiwan facility have lowered annual carbon emissions by 15%, while our China factories in Suzhou utilize solar-powered systems to offset 30% of their energy consumption. We also prioritize water conservation, with our pressure-compensating products and low-flow sprinklers helping customers save over 1.2 billion liters of water globally annually.
Ethical Supply Chains
Our SEDEX SMETA certification reflects rigorous adherence to labor rights, health and safety standards, and ethical sourcing. Annual third-party audits ensure fair wages, safe working conditions, and zero tolerance for forced labor in our China facilities. Since 2022, we’ve collaborated with 2 local NGOs to provide vocational training for workers in underserved communities, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Community Impact
The Charlie Chou Charity Foundation, established in 2002, remains central to our CSR ethos. Between 2015 to 2024, we:
- Sponsored more than 20 charitable organizations and organized multiple beach clean-up and charity sales events.
- Total donated more than 2000 sets of irrigation systems to small-scale farmers in rural Asia.
- Launched a “Plastic to Playgrounds” initiative, total recycling 3 tons of manufacturing scrap into playground equipment for 5 schools.
Looking Ahead
As an ECOVADIS-certified leader, we are committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Upcoming initiatives include transitioning 100% of our Taipei headquarters’ energy to renewables and expanding our charity foundation’s environmental education programs to 3 new regions by 2030.
